DAY 4: Thursday, October 12, 2023

Throughout the day, we can expect to see breathtaking landscapes consisting of vast lava fields, waterfalls, black sand beaches, and glacier tongues.

Check out of Centerhotel Miðgarður

Seljalandsfoss: As intimidating as it looks and sounds upon approach - upon closer inspection, you discover a sneaky-little walkway tucked behind this thundering cascade.

Skógafoss: Located at the foot of a famous volcano, Eyjafjallajökull.

Reynisfjara: a black sand beach full of picturesque basalt column formations that will greet us. This noir-fantasy beach is also famously known for some of the dazzling scenery seen in Game of Thrones.

Vík: we will ride through this charming little town and grab lunch along the way to our next hotel.

Hvolsvöllur: The group will explore the Lava and Volcano center exhibition, which will give an excellent insight into the volcanic geology in the area and Iceland (admission included).

More lights, anyone?: After some rest, we will hunt again for those enchanting northern lights! Being in the countryside, away from the city lights, is excellent for spotting this natural phenomenon.

Check in at Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon

South Coast of Iceland

South Coast Exploration

DAY 5: Friday, October 13, 2023

Today, you will get to know the enormous Vatnajökull Glacier as we venture into an ice cave's sparkling blue/white world with a qualified guide. Getting up close and personal with the vast glacial tongue of the great Vatnajökull is an explorer’s dream!

Check out of Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon

Jökulsárlón Ice Lagoon: Exploring this renowned lagoon, made famous by several blockbuster movies such as Batman Begins and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, is an unforgettable experience! Many natural ice sculptures from the receding Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier jostle for position in the lagoon before being washed onto the nearby Diamond Beach. There, you will see them glittering like diamonds as they rest on the dramatic coal blackness of the sand.

Vatnajökull Ice Caves: Next, we go into the glacier with a qualified guide. New caves are formed each winter by the melt/freeze cycle of the glacier. Our journey into an ice cave will be an excellent opportunity for you to photograph the shimmering, deep shades of jewel-blue light that pass through the glacial ice!

Hella: Yes, as in…a town named after the Norse Goddess of the Underworld!💀 We will stop to enjoy lunch en route.

Skaftafell Nature Reserve: a green area amid amazingly jagged mountains and glacier-topped peaks. The otherworldly scenery of Skaftafell promises to be a highlight of our tour!

The Golden Circle

Golden Circle Tour

DAY 6: Saturday, October 14, 2023

This morning, we drive off to Southwestern Iceland's deservedly-popular "Golden Circle" area on a SUPER JEEP.

Check out of Stracta Hotel

Þingvellir National Park: a UNESCO World Heritage Site most famous for it's lava field rift valley that sepearates the North-American and Eurasian continental plates. It is also here that Iceland’s first parliament, Althingi, was founded in 930 AD.

Geysir - the original “geyser”: At this world-renowned geothermal area you can witness gurgling bubbling water bursting up to 25 meters high and the ground bubbling underneath your feet. Despite Geysir being the name source for every “hot reverse waterfall” worldwide, nearby Strokkur is now the show's main star as it bursts every 4 to 10 minutes.

The Golden Waterfall: "The Golden waterfall" is an incredible sight and a perfect photo spot, with water rushing down three steps of lava layers exhibiting breathtaking power and grandeur.

Snowmobile Time!: Next up, we kick the action into a higher gear and go for a 1-hour snowmobiling ride on Langjökull, Iceland’s second-largest glacier. Our snowmobile guides will welcome and brief us on safety and proper gear.

Lights Round 3?: Our guides will keep an eye out for the Northern Lights on our way back to Reykjavík and will make a short stop if conditions allow it.

I joined BAG Travel to Puerto Vallarta on May 2022. It was a great trip; got to meet new friends to travel with, and got to experience new activities that haven't done before on my previous visits to PVR. Would definitely join more trips in the future.

The Yosemite trip was very enjoyable and well- organized. The chartered bus was very comfortable and made for an easy entry/exit into/from the park. There was a lot of flexibility to chose activities every day and as an avid hiker I did a 16 mile loop hike with absolutely stunning views! Definitely recommend this trip whether it’s your first time to Yosemite or whether you are a repeat visitor.
